Sou um fã deste americano refugiado em Espanha e dos concertos dos franceses da La Blogotheque que têm a mania de levar para a rua alguns dos melhores artistas da cena Indie, criando concertos com imagens belas e sons magníficos. Gostei em especial desta reunião dos dois, em Barcelona. (E estranhamente gostei das músicas espanholas cantadas por ele… Meeedo).

I’m a big fan of this american eradicated in Spain and I’m also a big fan of the French guys from La Blogotheque that insist in taking to the street some of the best artists from the indie scene, creating concerts with beautiful images and sounds. I particularly liked this reunion in Barcelona. (And strangely enough, I liked the Spanish music sang by him… That scares me, though).

Não, não é uma banda nova, mas seria um excelente nome para uma. O “Hofmeister kink” é um dos elementos mais emblemáticos do design da BMW, caracterizado por uma dobra no pilar C dos carros. Na forma actual e para a posteridade, surgiu em 1961 no BMW 1500 pelas mãos do então director de design da BMW, Wilhelm Hofmeister, para realçar e afirmar da forma mais subtil e genial um dos mantras da BMW: todos os BMW são de tracção traseira. Deste então é um traço obrigatório para todos os designers da BMW, assim como a grelha dupla (que haveria de chegar mais tarde).

No, it’s not a new band, but it’s a great name for one. The “Hofmeister kink” it’s one BMW’s most emblematic design elements, characterized by a bent in the C Pilar. In it’s actual shape and from then on, it first appeared in the BMW 1500 in 1961 by the hands of the then BMW design director Wilhelm Hofmeister to highlight one of BMW’s mantras: All BMW’s are rear wheel drive. Since then it’s an unavoidable stroke for all BMW designers, as well as the double rim grill (which would appear later on).

A HMK 561 é um conceito para uma bicicleta eléctrica do designer alemão Ralf Kittmann, vencedor de um iF Design Award, e para além de um design revolucionário, tem uma tecnologia revolucionária: Como é feito de fibra de carbono e esta é boa condutora de electricidade, usa-a na estrutura para direccionar a energia para o motor, dispensando fios, mudanças e correntes. Este sistema também proporciona travagens regenerativas e, o melhor de tudo, já foi prototipado, por isso não é mais um conceito marado e futurista, impossível de pôr em prática.

The HMK 561 is an electric bicycle concept by  iF Design Award wining german designer Ralf Kittmann and behind it’s revolutionary design, there’s a revolutionary technology: Because it’s made of carbon fiber and carbon fiber is highly conductive of electricity, it uses the carbon fiber in the frame to conduct the energy from the motor, dispensing wires, gears and chains. This system also provides regenerative breaking and, best of all, it’s already prototyped, so it’s not just another crazy futuristic concept.

Por trás de cada música pimba há uma boa música. A versão original da Britney Spears, criada pelos Miike Snow (excelentes compositores Suecos) é a porcaria que se lhe conhece, mas por debaixo da falsa loira e dos artefactos pop comerciais estava isto escondido.

Beneath every bad music, there’s a good one. The original Britney Spears version, created by the fantaolous swedish duo Miike Snow it’s (great swedish songwriters, by the way), well, the shit you know. But underneath the fake blond and the commercial pop artifacts, this is what was hidden.

Quero isto, nem que seja para fazer de elemento de decoração, mesmo ao lado do candeeiro de 2 euros do IKEA. O que é isto? O conceito para um projector HD sem fios com uma cambada de bugigangas capazes de fazer sono ao mais geek dos geeks.

I want this, even if it’s only to use it as a decorating object, right next to an IKEA 2 dollar lamp. What’s this? A concept for a wireless HD projector with so many specs, even the geekest of the geeks would get bored with.

Um Aston Martin baseado num Toyota já suficientemente estranho, especialmente quando é baseado no Toyota IQ. Mas para ser justo, tem um design espectacular que traduz na perfeição a filosofia da Aston Martin no formato do Toyota. Não posso deixar de ficar impressionado com o que eles fizeram, e decepcionado com o que a Toyota podia ter feito com o IQ deles.

An Aston Martin based on a Toyota is strange enough, even more when it’s the Toyota IQ it’s based on. To be fair though, it’s got an awesome design that truly translates the Aston Martin design philosophy into the Toyota’s form factor. I can’t stop being impressed by what they’ve done, and what Toyota could have done with their IQ.
